Detox in your bath!

Epsom Salt Bath Soak, ahhhhh! Soaking in the bath is a fab way to detox, absorbing magnesium salts through the skin into our blood through the dermis layers, benefiting on a cellular level. Using essential oils, which provide antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory benefits, along with common household items like baking soda, epsom salts and honey can help flush impurities from the body by allowing it to 'sweat out' toxins. It is recommended having a bath for about 40 minutes to an hour for best results. The first 20 minutes will give your body time to remove toxins from your system while the last 20 to 40 minutes will allow you to absorb the minerals in the water and help you emerge from the bath feeling rejuvenated. Make sure to use hot water — it’ll help you sweat out impurities. Beneficial detoxing oils are Ginger, Cinnamon, Rosemary, Lavender, Frankincense, Peppermint, Wild Orange, Eucalyptus (helps relieve dry, itchy winter skin while detoxing).

When using 'sensitive' oils like Peppermint, Ginger, Cinnamon (hot), alway add a couple of drops and see how it feels, add a few more if your skin isn't showing signs of tingling or feeling prickly. Proceeding with caution always, remember less is more when it comes to essential oils, especially if using a brand which is 'pure' unadulterated oils as these will be more potent. In saying that don't be afraid to experiment, as this way you will find the oils which work for you best, in any given bath. Lye back and relax, aromatically inhaling as the therapeutic benefits sink into your whole being!
